Action Research- 5301

  • "Are you following me on Pinterest?" "Are we friends and have you liked my page on Facebook?" "What was your latest twitter feed?" "Did you see that video on YouTube?" "Just send me a text later." "Have you seen this new app?"  With today's constant pressure to be in the technology loop, it is crucial that as educators we utilize these tools and reach our 21st century learner.  In my action research I am finding a significant gap in communication with technology between our administrators, teachers, parents, and students.  I really think the benefit of action research is going to encourage my entire community to evaluate technology usage.  This action research project will shine light on the dated means of communication we currently use and help bridge the communication gap. I would really like to opportunity to view videos of my students practicing instruments, to upload recordings and also give them education feedback and resources to access immediately at the tip of their fingers.  It would also be extremely crucial and beneficial that we educate our families on the latest technology and offer an evening seminar on the available options to parents.  The most important tool for inclusion will be how we use technology today and for years to come.

  • The benefit of a blog for an administrator would be to meet the growing trend in society. It would be the easiest, most reliable source of communication for an administrator to utilize a blog to notify students and parents of upcoming events.  A mass message sent out to the community through a blog can give instant access to parents and teachers on the latest updates. Blogs can not only include events, but links to grade reports, cafeteria meal plans, and pictures and videos of the latest student activity.
